Tomorrow, 13 March 2018, the Dutch Parliament will vote on whether shipowners will be allowed to hire private maritime security companies to protect Dutch-flagged vessels’.
When we consider that piracy at sea is not merely a thing of the past, a vote in the affirmative could help bring extra contentment to the Masters and crew members sailing the world’s High Risk Areas (HRAs; coast of Somali, Gulf of Aden, the Indian Ocean). In addition, a yes-vote would also lower the risk of loss of cargo and, as in some past instances, loss of lives.
For ESS Maritime, this vote would allow the company to offer their fully trained and highly experienced security staff to private shipowners. From armed Maritime Security Operators (MSO) to unarmed Maritime Liaison Officers, ESS Maritime has the right solution and the experienced staff for each vessel in transit in HRAs.
